Nervous Dental Patients
Anxious Patients
Feeling Nervous?

Dental anxiety can make appointments challenging for some patients. At Dental Clinique, our team prioritises clinical care and offers sedation options where clinically appropriate.

If you’re feeling anxious about your dental visit, please make this known to our friendly reception team. We offer dental treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia in our on‑site operating theatres for patients who would like additional support to manage anxiety during treatment.

What we offer:
  • Oral sedation, which involves prescribed medication taken before your treatment.
  • Laughing gas (nitrous oxide) may assist some patients with relaxation during treatment.
  • General anaesthesia, where the patient is unconscious and cared for by a specialist anaesthetist in our operating theatre during dental treatment.
Understanding the risks

Sedation and general anaesthesia carry potential risks, such as drowsiness, nausea, low blood pressure, allergic reaction, or breathing difficulties. Your dentist and anaesthetist will review your medical history and discuss these risks with you before treatment, and determine whether sedation or general anaesthesia is appropriate for you.

Who is this suitable for?
  • Patients dealing with dental anxiety or fears of dental procedures
  • Patients with a history of negative dental experiences
  • Patients with general anxiety disorders
  • Patients with low pain tolerance
  • Patients with small mouths or limited access to the oral cavity
  • Patients undergoing more complex surgical procedures including wisdom teeth removal and dental implants

If you feel that you fit into one of these categories and would like to learn more about sleep dentistry, the side effects and the costs, have a chat with one of our friendly dental team.
